The original Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 debuted for 2002 on GM’s GMT800 full-size truck architecture. It combined SUV-style enclosed cargo space with a midgate that extended the bed into the cabin area, and it was sold in the U.S. with both 2WD and 4WD drivetrains.
