The full-size Ford LTD launched for 1983 as Ford’s mainstream rear-wheel-drive full-size sedan on the Panther platform. It replaced the LTD II-era full-size Ford and shared its basic architecture with the Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis. This original phase was sold in the United States through 1984 before the 1985 styling update.
