The ZX2 was the sporty two-door coupe derivative of the 1997 Escort platform, marketed separately in the U.S. from 1998. It shared its underlying architecture with the Escort sedan and wagon but was positioned as a distinct model with coupe-only styling and trim. Production continued through the 2003 model year.
