The E38 was the third-generation 7 Series and is widely regarded as one of BMW’s classic flagship sedans. It reached the U.S. market for the 1995 model year and ran through 2001. U.S. versions included 740i, 740iL, and 750iL models, with the long-wheelbase body becoming the dominant configuration.
