Jeep Cherokee/Wagoneer
XJ
The XJ Cherokee/Wagoneer debuted for 1984 as Jeep’s compact unibody SUV, replacing the earlier Cherokee and Wagoneer lines with a smaller, more modern design. In the U.S. it was sold as Cherokee and Wagoneer trims on the same body, with both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive versions available. This original phase established the XJ’s boxy shape and off-road-focused packaging.
