1987–1991 First generation facelift

6 modifications · For 1987, the Tempo received a facelift that updated its exterior styling and kept the model in Ford’s U.S. compact lineup. This revised phase continued the same basic Tempo architecture through 1991. All-wheel drive was also available during this broader lifecycle, though not on every body style or trim.

1984–1994 First generation

4 modifications · The Tempo debuted for 1984 as Ford’s new compact front-wheel-drive model in the United States. It was offered as a sedan and coupe and was positioned as a modern replacement for Ford’s earlier compact rear-wheel-drive cars. The original phase ran through the 1986 model year before a facelift arrived for 1987.
