2024–present U10 (U10)
3 modifications · The second-generation BMW X2 switched to the U10 body and debuted for 2024 with a larger footprint and a more conventional SUV profile than the original coupe-like model. U.S. sales continued with xDrive28i and M35i variants, reflecting BMW’s move to a broader, more utility-focused X2 lineup. This generation is the current X2 in the United States.

2018–2023 F39 (F39)
4 modifications · The original BMW X2 debuted as a coupe-styled compact crossover positioned below the X3 and shared its front-drive-based architecture with the contemporary X1. In the U.S., it arrived for 2018 as the sDrive28i and xDrive28i, with the performance-oriented M35i added later in the lifecycle. This first-generation X2 remained on sale through 2023 before being replaced by a new model for 2024.
