2018–2021 I01 (I01) second facelift
8 modifications · For 2018, BMW applied a further update to the i3 family, including the introduction of the i3s performance variant alongside the standard car. The U.S. market received both the regular i3 and i3s, with BEV and range-extender configurations depending on trim. This phase carried the refreshed exterior and equipment changes that followed the 2017 battery update.

2017–2017 I01 (I01) facelift
4 modifications · For 2017, BMW updated the i3 with a larger 94Ah battery option, extending range and changing the U.S. lineup. The refreshed phase also included revised trim and equipment combinations, while the range-extender version remained available. This facelift kept the same I01 body code but marked a distinct mid-cycle update in the model’s lifecycle.

2014–2016 I01 (I01) facelift
2 modifications · The original BMW i3 debuted as a carbon-fiber-bodied electric city car with rear-wheel drive and a tall, upright hatchback shape. In the U.S. it was offered as both a battery-electric model and a range-extender version, beginning with the 2014 model year. This first phase established the i3’s lightweight EV-focused packaging and distinctive interior design.
