2019–2025 G15/G14/G16 (G15/G14/G16)

10 modifications · BMW revived the 8 Series in 2018 with the G15 coupe, G14 convertible, and G16 Gran Coupe. The modern range expanded the nameplate into three body styles and includes U.S.-market 840i, M850i xDrive, and Alpina B8 variants. This generation is still on sale in the United States.

1994–1997 E31 (E31) facelift

6 modifications · BMW updated the E31 8 Series for the 1994 model year with revised styling and continued U.S. availability. The facelifted range included later 840Ci and 850CSi variants, while the 850i name was phased out. U.S. sales of the E31 ended after the 1997 model year.

1991–1993 E31 (E31) facelift

4 modifications · The first BMW 8 Series was the E31, a V8- and V12-powered grand tourer introduced in Europe in 1989 and brought to the U.S. for the 1991 model year. It established the 8 Series nameplate with a low-slung two-door coupe body and a focus on high-speed touring. U.S. sales ended after the 1997 model year.
