The 2 Series Gran Coupe joined the U.S. market for 2020 as the F44, giving BMW a front-wheel-drive-based compact four-door coupe in the 2 Series family. U.S. launch trims included the 228i xDrive Gran Coupe and M235i xDrive Gran Coupe, with the 228i xDrive continuing through 2024. This generation expanded the 2 Series nameplate beyond the traditional coupe and convertible body styles.
