The original SLS AMG coupe debuted as a front-mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive gullwing two-seater and was the first Mercedes-Benz developed entirely by AMG. It launched in the U.S. for the 2011 model year and established the SLS line with the 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 and distinctive upward-opening doors.
