2022–2026 R232 (R232)

2 modifications · The R232 generation revived the SL as a Mercedes-AMG-developed roadster and replaced the previous retractable-hardtop concept with a fabric roof. It launched for 2022 in the United States and remains in production.

2006–2020 R230 (R230) facelift

4 modifications · This facelifted R230 phase updated the SL’s exterior and interior while retaining the retractable hardtop layout. It continued as a U.S.-market model through the end of the R230 run.

2001–2015 R230 (R230)

6 modifications · The R230 SL moved to a retractable hardtop design and marked a major redesign for the model line. It was sold in the United States from launch and became the basis for several later updates.

1977–2001 R107 (R107) facelift

3 modifications · This facelifted R107 phase updated the SL’s styling and kept the model in the U.S. market as Mercedes-Benz continued the same roadster line. It represents the later production phase of the first R107 series.

1971–1995 R107 (R107)

8 modifications · The R107 SL was a long-running V8-powered roadster that became one of Mercedes-Benz’s most recognizable luxury convertibles. It was sold in the U.S. and remained in production for more than a decade before a facelifted update arrived.

1957–1963 W198 (W198)

1 modification · The 300 SL roadster was the open-top successor to the original 300 SL Gullwing and established the SL name as a high-performance grand tourer. It used the W198 chassis and was sold in the United States during its production run.
