The first Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe debuted as a coupe-styled SUV based on the M-Class/GLE, bringing a lower roofline and more aggressive styling than the standard GLE. It was sold in the United States beginning with the 2016 model year and included AMG performance versions. Production of this first generation ended before the next-generation model arrived.
