The R107 500SL was the V8-powered version of Mercedes-Benz’s long-running SL roadster line. It was sold in the United States for the 1985 through 1989 model years, making it the main U.S.-market 500-badged SL of the era. The model used the R107 chassis and remained part of the same basic body shell throughout its run.
