2006–2007 6th generation (W-body) facelift

3 modifications · The facelifted sixth-generation Monte Carlo introduced revised front and rear styling for 2006 and continued through the end of production in 2007. This was the final Monte Carlo sold new in the United States.

2000–2005 6th generation (W-body)

3 modifications · The sixth-generation Monte Carlo debuted for 2000 with a more rounded W-body design and continued as Chevrolet’s front-wheel-drive personal coupe. It was sold in the U.S. through 2005 before a facelifted version extended the run.

1995–1999 5th generation (W-body)

2 modifications · The Monte Carlo returned for 1995 on GM’s front-wheel-drive W-body platform, sharing its basic architecture with other mid-size GM coupes and sedans. It marked a major shift from the earlier rear-drive Monte Carlo formula.

1986–1988 4th generation (G-body) facelift

4 modifications · The facelifted fourth-generation Monte Carlo carried the same G-body foundation but with revised styling for the 1986-1988 model years. It was the final rear-wheel-drive Monte Carlo before the model’s long hiatus.

1981–1985 4th generation (G-body)

4 modifications · The fourth-generation Monte Carlo continued on the G-body platform from 1981 through 1988. It adopted a more aerodynamic shape and later received a facelift that updated the front and rear styling.

1978–1980 3rd generation (G-body)

5 modifications · For 1978, the Monte Carlo switched to GM’s downsized G-body platform and became lighter and more compact. This generation kept the rear-wheel-drive coupe formula through 1980.

1973–1977 2nd generation (A-body)

3 modifications · The second-generation Monte Carlo arrived for 1973 with a larger, more formal body and updated safety and styling changes. It remained a rear-wheel-drive personal luxury coupe through the 1977 model year.

1970–1972 1st generation (A-body)

3 modifications · The original Monte Carlo launched for 1970 as Chevrolet’s personal luxury coupe, using a long-hood, rear-drive A-body layout. It was positioned above the Chevelle and emphasized style and comfort over outright performance.
