first generation
The Chevrolet Metro name in the U.S. was applied to the rebadged Geo Metro after Chevrolet took over the model branding for the late 1990s. It continued as an economy-focused subcompact offered in hatchback and sedan forms. This phase ended after the 2001 model year.
